Outfit of the Day, Work Meetings, and a Mother/Daughter Lunch Date

I consider myself very lucky to have such a close relationship with my mom. I adore spending time with her! She has always been fully supportive of everything my siblings and I do, has such a great sense of humor, and we always find ways to entertain ourselves when we go out.

A few weeks ago, I broke my arm (that's a story for another day...) and have since been having to get rides around town to make it to work and various meetings. Getting dressed can also be a challenge, so I opted for casual and comfortable and took the opportunity to break in my brand new pair of Diba boots. They were a late Christmas gift from my boyfriend, and I absolutely love them. They fit my style perfectly!

My mother was kind enough to chauffeur me to an early meeting this morning in the bitter cold, and afterward, took me to lunch at Relish.

See, it does get below freezing here...on occasion.

Without a doubt, this is my new favorite lunch spot. Located in the prestigious River Oaks area of Houston, this perfect little place has a delicious menu (seriously, everything was great), and a really nice atmosphere. Geared mostly towards the local business men/women and well-to-do housewives on the go, everything you order comes conveniently packaged to-go, whether you stay to eat at one of the few tables, or pick up quickly and head out the door.

We made our lunch selections, sat down (we were lucky enough to find a table), and immediately started people-watching. A group of school girls in uniform, several businessmen in suits, eccentric older women in their fur trimmed floor length coats...trophy wives of River Oaks pulled up in their Maseratis. So much diversity in such a tiny building!

Butternut Squash Soup.
Left: Jalapeno Pimento, Right: Vegetable Panini
From left to right: Peanut Butter, Ginger Molasses,
Iced Lemon, Brownie.
Iced Lemon Cookie. Heaven!

Before we left, we HAD to try the baked goods, as there is a prominent sweet tooth that runs in our family ;). Let me just say, I was not disappointed.

  8. I'm so jealous you have such a close relationship with your mum! It's just never been like that for me. More my fault, than hers. She would love to have a close relationship with me but I just can't for some reason.

I love the boots and I am looking forward to hearing about the story of your arm!

Meet The Author

Designer, seamstress, crafter, vegetarian, thrifter, model, and now…blogger.

It all started with me sewing at an early age, making doll clothing and the basic pillow-type things like most beginners. Soon enough, my hobby exploded into intricate Halloween costume projects, handmade clothing articles and accessories that I added to my day to day ensemble. At age 18, I decided to pursue fashion as a career, and went to college to obtain a degree in fashion/theatrical costume design.

I was lucky enough to start working in the fashion and costuming industry straight out of school…and here I am today, perpetually striving towards making my dreams a reality.
